Is this your first time at the theatre?

Welcome! We can’t wait to have you join us. Live performances are an inspiring, riveting experience. For some, that can be intimidating. We hope this section provides you with answers to commonly asked questions but don’t hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.

At what time do the shows start?

Out of respect for the audience, we strive to start shows on time. The starting time is often referred to as the “curtain.”  We urge our audience to arrive at least a few minutes before curtain to allow time to find your seats and get comfortable. Arriving late may mean disrupting the rest of the audience because our ushers must use flashlights to safely guide you to your seats. You may also be asked to sit in another location until intermission to avoid disturbing others. You’re welcome to arrive 30 minutes early and enjoy our lobby where we sometimes have concessions available for purchase.

Do you offer discounts on ticket prices?

Occasionally, we make special offers available via our email newsletter. Sign up here and get added to our list. Routine discounts are available for students, Wayne State University faculty, staff, and alumni, and senior citizens. Group discounts and discounts for school field trips are also available.

Can I take photos or record video/audio of the show?

Elements of the show may be copyrighted, so it’s illegal to photograph or film the show. A more significant reason we ask you to refrain from taking pictures or filming the show is that it’s very disruptive to your fellow audience members. The glow of a camera dramatically lights up the theatre. However, we encourage you to take photos before the show, at intermission, or afterward and share your experience on social media. Be sure to tag us.

What is the dress code?

Wear what makes you comfortable. There is no dress code aside from generally appropriate public attire.

Can I bring drinks or snacks into the theatre?

Few things are as distracting as the noise from a candy wrapper or a spilled drink making the floor sticky. This is why we ask that you finish your concessions in the lobby, although bottled water is acceptable inside the theatre.

May I use my cell phone or other electronic mobile device in the theatre?

A ringing or the glow of a cell phone screen takes the audience (and the performers) out of the show. Some mobile electronic devices emit frequencies that interfere with our sensitive technology. Please turn your phone to airplane or silent mode or, even better, off, so that everyone can enjoy the show.

Can I buy tickets from resellers or other ticketing outlets?

The only tickets that are valid and accepted for admission are those purchased through our ticketing platform.  If you choose to purchase through a reseller, our box office will not be able to assist you in the event of lost tickets, seating changes, postponements, cancellations, or refunds.

Can I get a refund or exchange my tickets if I can't make my original performance?

All ticket sales are final and there are no refunds. You can, however, exchange your tickets. Members may exchange their tickets at no cost. All other ticket buyers may exchange their tickets for a nominal fee. All exchanges must be processed at least 48 hours in advance of the original performance. If I enjoyed the show, what can I do next?

We’re thrilled you enjoyed the show! The best thing you can do is tell your friends about your experience. Word of mouth is the number one way people learn about us, so telling others how much you enjoyed yourself is truly appreciated. Share your experience on your favorite social media site, call a friend, or tell your colleagues at work.
